Welcome

Ooh er, that is odd then, your right the dipped beam is ok but when i put the high beam on the the dipped beam goes out and high beam doesn't come on, leaving me in the dark, but the bulb is fine, and the flashers when used flash once very time then stop but start working ok once the bike has warmed up. Er i don't understand "instrument bezel for the small repeater/warning lamps" do you mean inside the clocks? Do you think this could be the handlebar switches playing up? Thanks for your help

change the head stock and handle bars « Result #4 Today at 5:25am »
Hi folks, i have a 1990 NTV 650 Revere, (Australia) and i hate the handle bars, they are the alloy pieces , a separate one for right and left held to the head stock (is that the right word) by 3 allen head bolts. i want to change it to something similar to the hawk or and "normal" bike...with risers and a tubular handlebar...
can this be done and would any one know of a bike that might supply the replacement part???
I'm 6'3" and find that i am reaching forward and down, not the most comfortable riding position when "just touring" , i dont want the "sports "bike riding possy...

Re: Earth points « Result #5 Yesterday at 6:40pm »
There is not a seperate earth for the high beam. If the dip is working the earth is fine. The flasher unit doesnt use an earth. There is only earths to the flashers and within the instrument bezel for the small repeater/warning lamps. Cheers D

I'm having some electrical prblems so I bought a Haynes manual but it doesn't say where the Earth points are on the bike, I found one behind the rear plastic on the off side about half way along the seat. So if anyone knows where the eaarth points are on the 650's please let me know. Specificly i'm trying to find the ones for the high beam and flasher circuits. All help appeciated. Thank you

Thanks Jake , looking forward to many miles from my old girl, and from the revere as well, hehehe.
Ive just had the seat re-shaped and re-covered, its now longer for the bride (passenger) and 3"wider all over, it also comes a little further up the fuel tank, and its sooo comfy.... i'll add some pics in the next week or so..
We are off to do/ride the Great Ocean Road (its in Victoria and runs along the coast between Geelong (Melbourne) and Mt Gambier (Adelaide)) at the end of November, its one of the MUST DO rides here in Oz.
I hope the weather starts behaving itself very soon , that region of Oz has been in the high 30's to mid 40's degrees celcius for the past fortnight... will be fun riding in that, hehehe

NTV for sale « Result #9 on Nov 16, 2009, 5:29pm »
Based in NI (Thats That weird wet place where the NW200 takes place for those who dont know) NTV650 All good mechanically. Would need one of the more enthusiastic members to dismantle and put back together with new paint. I intended doing it but havnt had the time due to other commitments. There is absolutley nothing to stop anyone riding it anywhere any day. Has one set of krauser panniers fitted along with a Kappa top box (hold 2 lids) BMW screen (tall thing) More or less standard apart from a radiator from a CBR400 (looks fine) and a lower temp fan switch. As above all things that make it start, go and stop are fine. New pads, caliper kits etc. New clutch 1500 ml back. New genuine battery 1500 ml back. New genuine headlight. New front wheel bearings. Motad exhaust with a couple of scrapes on bottom. Bars are raised with home made blocks. Adjustable rider foot pegs. (German expensive, cant remember the name) Fitted with Optimate lead and the Optimate charger also comes with the bike (Genuine Honda again) Heated grips with a single (simple) switch that has proven more reliable than the fancy things. There is a complete little spares kit for touring. Two levers, cables, CDI unit, rectifier, Puncture kit etc. (Best thing ever, if you have it you'll never need it) Also going along with the bike is. Two smaller Kappa boxs. Two larger Krauser boxs with keys. Spare Krauser rack kit. Load of good and new tyres. (slightly differance sizes but fit and ride fine) Complete engine and carbs in good condition. Another spare set of carbs with good diaphrams also. Spare radiator same as fitted on the bike plus maybe other bits and bob's I cant remember about. Anyone who has read my posts will know that almost all the spares fitted over the last couple of years have been genuine parts. I am not getting too long in the tooth but I certainly have too many sore bits and get stiff after about 30mls. Not my idea of biking. I like to see loads every day and the discomfort has spoiled it for me. I would like someone to have use of the wee bike instead of it just sitting here. Ride it, tidy it as long as you use it. I am open to offers. I DO NOT WANT QUESTIONED ABOUT SELLING PARTS SEPERATELY. Whoever buys it will need a van or trailer to move the extra parts. It is MOT'd and taxed to late next summer. Cheers Dermot (honda) P.S. PM me if interested but dont expect a fast answer as I'm very busy.

The best thing you ever sat on. I had a peice of sheepskin when I was younger. It has a weird benefit of keeping your rear from getting sore and uncomfortable. Did get a few looks now and again, but hew they were not going as far as I was. Pity it doesnt fix a bad hip

Hi Alan....
Welcome to the forum.
Believe it or not I once purchased a sheepskin cover from Oz, which was tailored to fit the NTV seat perfectly..... but I have'nt had the nerve to use it yet in the crappy UK weather.....
