Have been searching all over the web for information on Honda NTV 650's without much luck, so decided to take matters into my own hands and try and start up a discussion forum for this machine. Please join and share your experiences.

Just joined the site this morning. Have had a 'K' reg ntv for 8 years now. I do about 6k/year in all weather and do all my own servicing/repairs. Dead easy-not much to do. This bike is like an old friend now. Had its 6 monthly service this weekend, 1.5hrs and under £30. Did notice that the clutch cable was fraid, so will have to get one quick before it snaps. This is the first time for years anything has gone wrong. Will write something again soon. Paul

Welcome Paul, As you can see its a little slow going at the moment, hopefully a few more folks will stumble across the site. By the way, have you made any changes your bike? Also if you have any pictures, send them my way.

Hi, Well I've stumbled across your site. I don't have an NTV but am thinking of getting one - what are spares like to get hold of, like exhausts and stuff? I have a CX500 amongst others - so a NTV would be a step forward into the next decade or so! Allan

Hi Allen, Welcome to the site, To be honest i have not had to buy to many spares for my bike.. It has proved to be very reliable. What I have bought has been from Wemoto.. The link to their website is on my main webpage. you can also still get most spares from Honda dealers but at a price.. Good luck.

Hi all, well after nearly buying a NTV a few years back I been and done it this time a '96 with 33K on. I'm hopeing to put a few more miles on this than I've managed on the last few bikes due to the usual lack of time etc.

Hi. I'm from Sydney, Australia and i have an Australian delivered 1990 NTV650 'L' Revere with about 36k km on the odo. I've owned it for 3 months. Mine isn't in pristine condition but its running and I'm repairing it a bit at a time. I mainly use my bike as my commuter to work or uni. I know of 2 wreckers nearby that aare selling spares so it's not like it's a rare bike, but i don't see many on the roads in Australia. In fact the only other one I've seen on the road was when I was on a holiday driving a rental car. Looked like a courier up in Brisbane.
Things I like about the bike: confortable seating position although my bum gets numb after a day long ride, low seat height makes it easy to reverse in sticky situations, easy to service (shaft drive is a big plus here), reliable, nimble low speed handling is great for riding around cars, my pillion likes the back seat on long rides, flexible engine has lots of torque to keep me ahead of city traffic, and a big fuel tank with frugal fuel consumption gives me about 290km until reserve.
Things I don't like: bad brakes! front lever requires a good squeeze especially with a pillion, consequently the front pads wear out very quickly, the rear brake pedal position too high such that I cant adjust it any lower or it will hit the exhaust shield, weak headlight (not so much of a problem because I commute on familiar roads), the manual fuel tap which is annoying when the engine stops while waiting at the lights, the v-twin vibration does bother me (I prefer inline-4s), and a bit more top end power would be nice too.
I originally bought the bike to ride around australia with. I'm looking to get a front fairing for this purpose. I'm also looking to get some smaller aftermarket blinkers, as the originals are a bit big and 'dorky'.
I'm hoping to share some more of our experiences with our reliable and well designed bikes. Francis

Just upgraded front brakes - changed pads, striped/rebuilt calipers, and replaced the old hose with a new braided Goodrigde one. I'm not some which of the changes made the biggest difference, but the bike now stops on a sixpence with a lot less effort at the lever. Hope this is useful Francis.
Other mods from original are:
Small givi screen fitted 5 years ago.
Motad 2 into 1 exhaust - fitted 2 years ago.
King/Queen seat from Baglux in North Wales to replace old split seat. (recent)
Will try and post some photos soon.

Hey Glad we have a few more people checking in here. And please folks if you have pictures, Post them. It 's funny when I first contemplated buy this bike, everywhere I looked said this was a favorite for couriers, so I assumed there would be tons of them on the road. But now it seems these things are like gold dust!!

Hello all, its good to see a site for the NTV! I have a 1996 P reg. NTV650 that I'm in the process of re-building and plan on giving it a bit of a street fighter look, just not to sure how far to go.

Hi Steve, and welcome. Check out the technical forum, there is a link. I too wanted a fairing but decided to go for just a small one. I now have recieved it but unfortunately they sent me the wrong brackets! They should be here in the next couple of days so hopefully will publish pictures early next week.
Regards,
Glenn
