Hi Everyone Last year I was 'given' a 97 ntv by an old friend who has moved on to a 'pan' the 650 had been sitting in the gargage for 3 years+ and was a non runner. First hudle was how to transport it from north of Aberdeen ('you fit like') to home south of Coventry, ended up arranging transport after 2 failed collection attempts, sorted the lack of fuel to the ecu not triggering the fuel pump relay and hence the pump - when checking I found the pump points spark like crazy which let me to a thread on the Irish bikers forum about soldering a diode into the feed within the pump - has anyone noticed fuel pump failures (wemoto sell a points kit) but a 16p diode may reduce sales! I checked in Maplin where I brought some diodes and yes it cuts out a voltage surge which reduces the points wear, due to try it out shortly. Anyway fettled the bike new tyres brake lines pads ect ect and used it late last year due to be legal again on the first. Would anyone like a free rear tyre? Michelin macadam approx 4/5 mm remaining good condition but not sure how old it is, just send me a note. A common thread is how to make it a bit noisier, any suggestions please, currently has a motad with ss downpipes, the two brothers bros system looks nice but s*&t its expensive! Another subject is oil quality I'm sure we're being ripped off by 'special' oils, they don't have them in Asia and the engines are ok, is it the west's desire for somthing so specific, a bit like zen and the art of motorcycle maintenance, it must be good, it was expensive (bo££ocks. Anyway must go, let me know what you think. Best regards Dave (dipstick)

Anyway must go, let me know what you think..... Hi Dave....nice long first post. This is what we like..... Welcome to the forum. ;D Speaking of exhausts: The only exhausts I’ve ever used are a Laser can (not road legal) which was fitted to the bike when I first bought it, and then the Motad. The Laser was much louder and backfired a lot on the overrun. I prefer the Motad because it's quieter and gives a bit more power mid-range power. I’ve heard that the Predator exhaust without baffles is a good bet for the NTV, but as you point out some of these exhaust options are expensive. Some people like the Fuel exhausts, but again I’ve heard that they backfire slightly on the overrun. The other problem with some of these exhaust cans is that it becomes impossible to fit the the Hepco and Becker panniers because the end can is too high. cgi.ebay.co.uk/HONDA-NTV600-REVERE-PREDATOR-S-S-SILENCER-NEW-/310279046521?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item483e128579shop.ebay.co.uk/items/__ntv+exhaust_W0QQ_dmdZ2?rvr_id=145686531759&crlp=1166678047_228459_228460&UA=WXF%3F&GUID=4e92c42912b0a0aad385d905fe409e29&agid=302665957&MT_ID=10&keyword=ntv+exhaust&ff4=228459_228460Speaking of oil: Personally, if I’m going to spend more money than I need to, then I‘d sooner spend it on fully synthetic engine oil because in my experience (using Silkolene 5w40 for example) the iffy NTV/Revere gearbox works a lot better….and the bike feels a lot smoother at speed…… www.team-bhp.com/forum/motorbikes/36342-motorcycle-engine-oil-article-must-read.htmlBut there’s a list of the exhaust options in the Library section of the forum under Parts, Accessories, Reviews & Microfiche: growell.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=library&action=display&thread=724In the meantime, keep us posted on your mod to the fuel pump. And like I say, excellent first post...!!!

Thought i'd better say hi even though i have already posted twice. I live in Halifax, West Yorkshire, I'm fairly new to the site and i have a NTV 600 Revere '93 which is my only means of transport. It is now having to be rebuilt since it was stolen, (lesson learned). We (that is my hubby and myself) should have it back on the road before the next rally (5 weeks) fingers crossed. We have already recieved a lot of help and advice that has been very much appreciated. ;D I won't post a pic at the mo as it's nothing to look at but, as soon as its ready i'll post some pics. I'm getting excited at the prospect of NOT having to catch a bus again . I miss my bike.

Hi Jake
Long time no speak, I've been a tad busy with bathrooms and rebuilding bit of the house, regarding your note about oil, you were dead right I used some fully synthetic oil and what a difference, much smoother. Halfords had an on line offer which is well worth keeping an eye open for as like pc world you can book on line and just collect from the local branch, I was able to buy fully syn for the cost of semi. Next job is the fuel pump mod and a oil leak which has just occured from behind the gearchange cover! Replaced the cam cover gaskets and changed the oil, the rear gasket can be a bit of a fiddle (not what I called it at the time). Have you tried the uprated headlamp bulbs available, I picked up a pair off amazon and it was well worth it, there is a definate improvement and if they can see you, they may take notice, so a safety aspect! Does anyone want a rear tyre, approx 4 mm of tread, michelin, serviceable, free, you would just need to collect?
Shall have to go now, enjoy the dry days Dipstick

Hi Dipstick….. Yeah, I normally use Osram “Silverstar” H4 which are excellent... I usually get them from the supplier below. www.consumabulbs.com/files/bdet.php?id=109But Osram also make a bulb called the "H4 Night Racer Motorbike Bulbs" which looks quite useful. www.consumabulbs.com/files/bdet.php?id=841

Hi again, just read a thread about making the revere exhaust noisier, well the bike I bought has a stainless exhaust and its far too niosy for me so I have been experimenting with different baffle arrangements (will post pics shortly) but what I would really like is an original silencer, does anyone know if they are still available either new or secondhand? thanks Terry

Hi, my name is Steve. I live in Abergavenny, South Wales. I bought my NTV Revere from a friend 3 years ago. Apart from a little alarm problem, when I didn't ride it for 4 months in the bad weather last Christmas time, it's never missed a beat. 2 weeks ago the exhaust muffler blew big time! As I was carrying out a very temporary repair, in order to get home from work as quietly as possible, I noticed how bad the rest of the exhaust is, apart from the front pipes. Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced replacement system please?

Hi everyone My name is lee and ive recently purchased an ntv 650 in black. It was an un-expected purchase but well worth it. My last bike was a gpz 500s and it was my pride and joy...... until a 85 yr old pensioner decided to park on top of it. But never mind it was for the best. Only prob is someone tried to steal it and ended up snapping the front caliper mount and smashing the rear light cluster, so is off the road until i find some spares.
