Hi,Is it possible to fit a Deuville sized front tyre 120/70x17.As opposed to a 110/80x17 NTV size. If so,how much will it knock the speedo out? Is it possible to fit a Deuville speedo drive to compensate, they look very similar if not the same as the NTV? Has anyone done this before? If they do fit,it means a much wider choice of better radial tyres. As opposed to usual cross plies.

But I do know that my bike has never had anything other than radials.... When I first bought it it had BT 57's fitted which had excellent grip but wore out quickly. Next time round, I fitted BT 020's front and back which lasted longer. I've been thinking about fitting cross-plies next time, (possibly Avon Road Riders) just to make the comparison..... But I'm pretty sure there's a good selction of radials that'll fit the NTV. www.oponeo.co.uk/motowww.bctmotorcycles.co.uk/catalogue/tyres/

Thanks for the reply Jake. The reason I ask,is that I've been using cross plies. From when I first bought the bike, seven years ago. I've been using Road riders, for the last five years.I've noticed the quality isn't what they used to be. Avon's used to be made in England, now they're made in Asia. They used to last about 10k miles. I fitted some last year,5k later they are finished?! So something has changed somewhere? When you look at the price of cross plies, v's radials.it's not vastly more expensive. Mich pilot roads, are a good price at the moment. I just wondered if the 120/70x17 size fitted. If you're already on radials,& they work.I'd stay with them.

People used to swear by the Avon Road Riders on this site, so it's useful to know that they're not what they used to be... I'll stick (no pun intended) to using radials for now.

120/70 is not recommended for 2.5" rim, so might be a problem with insurers. 110/70 is also not recommended by most tyre manufacturers (with the exception of Bridgestone), although this would be a better fit on a 2.5" rim than a 120/70.
Rolling radius of 110/80 and 120/70 should be similar, so no need to change speedo drive, but 110/70 would put speedo out by around 5%. A CBR600 F2 drive is meant to be a straight swap and cure this.
