Man alive - You guys have been busy discussing in my (2-3 week) absence! Bill - I just bit the bullet and got my stubby silencer off to fit my new main stand. Penetrating oil on the clamps and into the front end of the collector helped loosen the silencer from the downpipes . The only downer I had was torquing up the LH pinch bolt blind without putting my brain in gear (pinch bolt .. that implies "little" pinching up of the hole doesn't it) .. followed the Haynes torque figure and well over-tightened the thing in the process .. when will I learn. - Tweaker

Tweaker tweaks a little too much on occasion then! A bit like the tyre fitter on my daughter's car. Trying to undo the nuts the other day I had to use a jack on a long bar. Sounded like a shotgun going off when it finally released. d**ned strong threads on these car nuts though.

Yep - Over torquing is a long standing failing I am trying to get out of the habit of .. thought a torque wrench might help with the campaign, but I forgot to engage me brain and add in a little bit of scepticism! - (Over) Tweaker!
