Afet 100,000 miles (plus some more when the speedo broke) on the 650P, I bought a 650T, excellent condition 27000 miles, service every year, BUT, I just cannot get it to run as well when picking up from low speed. New plugs and air filter, valve clearances perfect, carbs balanced, tickover smooth, but when picking up from tickover, sometimes there is a hesitation unless the throttle is opened very slowly. My 650P did not do this, are there differences in the carbs, due to stricter emission regs? Should mention that it seems worse when hot. Any ideas as to what to check next please? Fuel consumption much as the older bike, high (ish, remember it is an NTV) running fine, over 2500 rpm perfect.
Any suggestions welcomed before (the rest of) my hair falls out.

Hi Rich521, First thing to check or replace is the in-line fuel filter…. Also check HT leads, and split diaphragm or sticking slide in the carbs…It's less likely to be the carbs if you've checked them already, however. So I'd check the fuel filter first and also the filter in the tank..... See link below for more information: growell.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=engine&action=display&thread=727

sounds like it's sucking air in, the rubber joint between the carbs and the heads isn't too clever at the best of times, i had the exact same problem and remounted the carbs with a little silicone between the joints.. between the head and manifold, the manifold and carb, the carbs and air filter box, also i checked the breather pipes from the head to the air box, all this solved the problem but it's worth doing the whole lot as i never found out which actual joint it was, failing that i would suggest checking the main jets or needles in the carb, a bent or loose needle will give the same fault so will a partly blocked jet, whilst your in the carbs re-check the float levels
