Anyone help? There are some strange noises coming from my bike and I can't work out what's causing them. Imagine placing a spanner inside a sealed plastic sandwich box and shaking it, well that's the sort of noise it's making. I can only hear it when I'm pulling away from stationary but even then it doesn't happen every time. I can't hear it at speed. I thought it was shaft problems because it sounds similar to the noises made by my bike about three years ago when I had to have a differential replaced. I took it to Honda today and the technician test rode it. He does not believe there is anything wrong with the final drive. I'm pretty sure he didn't hear the noises either. It was at its worst today when I pulled away after filling up. In other words, the bike had been ridden in top gear for at least ten minutes and then allowed to rest at the pumps for two to three minutes. It sounds pretty serious. To quote Ness off 'Gavin & Stacey'.......... Woss Occurring?

check all your bolts for tightness, i doubt it's the final drive as any noise from there would be accompanied by vibration, it's hard to guess the problem unless you give us a idea of what area it's coming from, i've had a few annoying rattles in my time.. one of the cable stay's inside the headlight was one that took me months to find, another was a cable tie under the seat which only flapped at over 60mph.. that took me a month to find, the second nut on the cluch cable was another, the plastic cover inside the engine bay at front top was a nightmare one to find out (sounded like a buzzing bee at 5k revs), as stated above the oil pump chain.. fixed with thicker diesel oil, pilion footpegs rattling.. fixed by bending the large washer, constant noises from pillion "your going the wrong way"... i never did find the cause of this one and it re-appears from time to time.. failing all these i would do your zip up on your luncheon box
