Hi all. I went out for a ride on my ntv 600 on thursday and all was well. Went out this morning to start it and no ignition lights whatsoever. I managed to bump it but it would not rev properly. It would tick over but it would not rev well. The rev counter was jumping all over the place even though the bike was not revving. Any ideas what it might be??
Many thanks
Jamie

Many thanks Jamie Could be a possible ignition fault e.g. ignition control unit or starter relay Not sure what would cause the rev counter to react in the way you describe …suggests an electrical fault, rather than a problem with the fuel system…. If it’s electrical I’d certainly begin by checking the battery. Is it charging properly? And also check the fuses between the handlebars on the Revere, or behind the right-hand side panel on the NTV….. www.hawkworks.net/manual/17.html#17-1-troubleshootingwbieniec.kis.p.lodz.pl/moto/ntv/manual/9.pdfBut I’ve no doubt Paul will have some ideas about this….though he may not be back until Sunday….

Hi Jamie,
I would check the ignition electrics carefully, you may well have a corroded connector or the like, maybe a bad earth connection some were. Could, of course be the ignition box or pickup gone faulty.
Don't know what test equipment you have available but the basic test procedure is in the factory manual which is available on-line from a link on this site.
Could be a faulty kill, clutch or ignition switch as well.
Check the above & let us know how you get on, In the meantime I'll have a further think about the problem.
Paul.
