Hey guy's wonder if anyone could educate me?? ;D been slowly getting my ntv600 to a ridable state and this morning got it running sweetly for the first time... it has been laid up for years by the previous owner and i bought it in various parts Got the rear brake working and it running nicely(only taken 4 months) popped it into gear for my maiden voyage around the garden and there is no drive?? Gear lever goes up and down... neutral light does what it is supposed to do?? Played around with the clutch but no joy?? there is no clunk or any sign of engagement when putting it in gear.. So does anyone have any ideas on where i should start?? Cheers in advance Chris

Cheers in advance Chris Hi Chris, If you’ve already checked the clutch, I suggest you check out the gear change mechanism on pages 2.32 and 2.33 of the Haynes manual below (link may be slow in opening). wbieniec.kis.p.lodz.pl/moto/ntv/manual/2.pdfwww.hawkworks.net/manual/7.html#7-8-gearshift-linkagewww.bike-parts.fr/pieces-promo-2794-13MZ6S41--1997-E__1600-.htmlThe selector arm and/or selector arm claw may be worn. If it was me though, I’d have it checked at a Honda dealer or by an experianced mechanic….

this sounds dumb but have you put it on it's center stand ( or a jack to lift the rear wheel off the ground) and turn the rear wheel by hand and manuley put it in gear to feel anything, as the driveshaft might no be conected.
but befor you take anything apart have a feel just incase

Cheers for the idea's... had a few spare minutes this afternoon and popped the rear wheel off..
All looked fine so i removed the hub assembly and all was revealed :-) the drive shaft is not in there... I know i have one in my spares box so will sort it soon :-) i assume it just slides in until the shaft locks??
Cheers

not quite.. looking at the parts diagram in the manual i am missing a circlip type spring and 2 oil seals?? The next difficulty is finding the part numbers without a long drive to the honda dealer :-)
Cheers
