hi, i'm new to this site, no two son has given me his ntv 659 to look at, when it was mine it ran perfectly ok. but now have the rear exhaust pipe running red. i felt this was down to valve problems, have removed head , re ground valves etc, re build but still have the same problem. so what next??
would appreciate any help

Sounds like it’s running too lean (incorrect air/fuel ratio)…. Have you checked the plugs and fuel-filter (tank and inline) to see if they are clogged. Do the carbs have the right size jets? Is there an air leak between carbs and engine? Do the carbs need servicing and/or balancing etc? www.hawkworks.net/manual/3.html#3-8-carburetor-synchronizationYou say it's the 'rear exhaust pipe'? How old is this pipe? Is this this the standard pipe or a replacement for the original Honda exhaust?
