i have a 600 ntv year 89, my problem is bike will run on two cylinders when first started, after a mile or two only back cylinder will work losing total power, checked spark seems o.k, taking off front barrel seems no wear at tall, front coil is good, fuel is definetly getting to front cylinder but seems not to be firing. all helpful advice would be appreciated as im stuck for ideas. many thanks simon.

Have you checked the valve clearances on front cyclinder… or dismantled and cleaned carbs? • You could also check plug cap and HT lead. • Do a compression test. • Check carb diaphragm.

I had this problem when I got my bike, turned out to be a combination of incorrect choke slides and part of the choke cable causing the choke not to close when warm on one cylinder!
Hope this helps
Paul.

to paul mason, your idea of choke slides not working properly, are the choke slides on the end of the choke cable which connect to the carbs, if yes i hav notice that one slides more than the other, i think the choke cable could be knacked. would buying a a new choke cable be the best thing. many thanks pottsy.

Yes, the slides are indeed on the end of the cable, check the springs betwen the slides & the plastic nuts, they have been known to rust away, & that the slides are free in the carbs. The slides should have a needle on the carb end - mine had the older type without the needle fitted when I bought the bike - I had to buy the correct parts to cure the problem. Paul.
