Hi all
Began giving my ntv a service this morning, started by warming the engine to loosen the oil up to drain, whilst warming up i left it for about 5 mins, the temperature gauge rised but the fan didnt kick in, some water was spat out from one of the drain tubes.
Turned the bike off immediately left to cool, did the oil change, topped up my coolant which was low and ow the bike wont start! More specifically, turn the ignition on, i have lights, horn just nothing when i press the starter button!?!?
Anyone have any ideas?
Hope so

Hope so There may be a fault with the ignition or possibly the kill switch but....... If your engine is overheating after only 5 minutes of ‘warming up’ on idle then you may have a more serious problem..... If the bike has only been warming up for 5mins then the radiator fan should not come on. Normally the engine doesn’t heat up that quickly.....and why did you need to top up the coolant? I thought you were changing the coolant? (see link). growell.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=engine&thread=1418&page=1If you did, then how did you do it? Did you follow the procedure in the Haynes manual i.e. remove seat and tank; remove the radiator cap (when the engine is cold) and then drain the coolant by removing the water-pump drain bolt etc? Did you refill the radiator to the correct level and with the correct mixture of coolant? If your bike is overheating on idle then I’d get it checked at a Honda dealership or decent garage as soon as possible.

Hi Jake
Thanks for your reply
I was planning on changing and flushing the radiator system as mentioned in the previous forum post. I was going to come to that later in my 'mini' service.
The annoying thing now is i just can not get the bike to fire up
How would i identify if the switch is at fault? How to I elimate the kill switch from the problem?
Your advice is much appreciated

Your advice is much appreciated If the engine isn’t turning over check the obvious things first e.g. make sure the kill switch is in the ‘on’ position and the bike is in neutral with the side stand up... then try to restart. Check battery and battery terminals, it may be low on charge or you may need a new battery. Check for blown fuses. Check side stand switch and/or clutch lever switch. See link below for tracing electrical faults: www.hawkworks.net/manual/17.html#17-1-troubleshootingThere may be a problem with the starter motor relay. Again, check fuses and see page 9.15 of the Haynes manual below i.e. ‘Starter Relay’: wbieniec.kis.p.lodz.pl/moto/ntv/manual/9.pdfgrowell.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=electrical&action=display&thread=1131If all else fails, take it to a garage because if it’s an electrical fault affecting the ignition system, it can be difficult to trace…..
