Hi All
Hopefully someone can help. Problem, 97 NTV leaking, quite a lot of coolant, not pouring but a steady drip from water pump...bike isnt overheating, temp gauge gets to about half way if sat a lights etc, but when moving drops back down.
If the coolant reserve/overflow reservoir is full does this mean the system isn't being starved of coolant and is it OK to only fill up at through this reservoir? I've just ordered a haynes manual to help me find a bit more but not having much luck finding a replacement pump, only pump covers. Any ideas??
Many thanks C

I've had similar problem with my 97 Ntv, leaking rad which now seems to have sealed itself (hopefully) My bikes radiator was bone dry when i bought it even though the reserve resevoir was full which i could'nt work out. To fill the rad up you have to take the tank off to access the filler which is where i found the reason the rad was empty, the plastic filler neck had perished right through.
The tank is easy enough to get off just 1 bolt by the headstock and 1 by the seat, then you just pull the side panels out the way and lift it up, just be careful as it will still be attached to the fuel pump though. ;D
Oh yeah there was a water pump floating about on ebay but i think its gone now but try these guys M1 salvage and breakers 01582841440.

Thanks Zanzibar. I got the tank off this afternoon and the radiator is full to the brim. Could I have overfilled the system and now its finding its own way out? The drip, seems to manifest itself on the nut that holds the metal pipe to the water pump but after drying and watching it comes from somewhere above this point and just gathers there as its the lowest bit. Where should the needle on the temp gauge usually get to? Its only just started noticably working, could this be down to the fact its just been so d**n cold (only had the bike since November) and now its warming up? Sorry for stupid questions, but I;m not much of a mechanic Keen to learn though

The temp guage on mine usually gets about a quarter of the way up when riding and about halfway up when in traffic but only ever had fan come on when testing that it worked at home and that came on when the guage was about 3/4 of the way up. Hope you sort it. Nick
