Hiya...I have just joined coz it's my aim to buy a Revere. I live just south of Brum on a narrow boat on the Grand Union Canal with my BMW crazy fella. Been riding for 7 years and luv it.
I use my bike daily up and down a half mile rough track and feel that with all the dust in the summer and mud in the winter I would be better off with a shaft drive.
I ride a Honda cb 500 at the moment, but after extensive chats to various biker mates as regard to THE best shaft driven bike. The Revere came out on top.
Went to look at one a few weeks ago which was nice but with a bit of a cafe racer thing going on it wasn't really my cup of tea!! Had a sit on it but felt that I was leaning forward too far, I like to have my back straight.
Does anyone know If it's possible to extend and raise the handle bars??

Does anyone know If it's possible to extend and raise the handle bars?? Hi Julie...welcome to the site. ;D First thing, the Revere in this country (as opposed to the continent) has a 600cc engine and clip-on type bars which are not easy to raise. It can be done but it requires a fair amount of engineering skill and is potentially quite expensive. However, The NTV 650 has the 650cc engine and conventional tubular bars which are quite easy to raise using a bar raising kit (see link below). www.bykebitz.co.uk/acatalog/Sw_Motech_Handlebar_Risers.htmlwww.motorcycle-road-and-race.co.uk/catalog/motorcycle-handlebar-risers-honda.phpIf you're only raising the bars by 30mm you won't have to use longer brake, throttle or clutch cables. If you're raising the bars by around 50mm which I've done on my bike, then you may need longer cables etc. But it's a much easier job to raise the bars on an NTV 650, than it is on a Revere 600. So make sure you know the difference if you decide to buy..... The letters 'NTV' are usually written on the tank. See also page 6 of the Handbook below: www.honda.de/fahrerhandbuecher/NTV650_37MZ6620.pdfAlso, these bike are fairly heavy and if you plan to ride them along a rough track then a smaller trail bike might be a better option. But if you insist on raising the bars on a Revere 600, see link below: growell.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=body&action=display&thread=1297

I live near Warwick so not far from you, could arrange to meet you sometime if you want a second try on a "near to standard" one. Mine has Renthall bars fitted, because of crash damage to the originals, but I was careful to get the nearest I could to the std NTV bar dimensions, mainly because I didn't want the hassle of finding and changing to longer cables (throttle has 2; & clutch) and possibly a longer front brake hose. Alternativlely fit a Scotoiler to the CB500? regards John PS sometimes I wish it had lower bars!
