Hi Guy, , Any advice would be welcome, I have a S Reg 535 Virago, only has 4000 miles on the clock. The bike is in cracking condition but I am thinking of getting a NTV 650 as with our weather here the Virago's crome would need cleaning all the time and I have lost the use of a garage. Silly question I know but I would have to keep what ever bike out in the open all year round and the NTV seems the right choice, am I right?

.... Silly question I know but I would have to keep what ever bike out in the open all year round and the NTV seems the right choice, am I right? The NTV 650 is OK being left outside providing it has a good waterproof motorcycle cover. If it’s left uncovered it’s prone to rust like any other bike, and is also prone to electrical faults. The rear seat mechanism can also jam and you’ll have a hard time getting the seat off to change the battery or air filter etc. Personally, I think the build quality on this bike is often overrated. Just because it’s a Honda doesn’t mean it won’t rust if it’s not looked after (i.e. cleaned regularly and maintained). If you’re going to buy this bike then get some ACF 50 and a decent bike cover as well. www.mandp.co.uk/productInfo.aspx?catRef=540911

as jake says, if they are neglected they will corrode and self destroy just like anything else, they might just take longer. the reason i know this is because i'm in the middle of 'dismantling' mine for a rebuild, and it is anything but pretty due to the last two years of neglect. that said, it ran fine before i started.......
