I am looking for the sensor which signals the rad cooling fan when the engine temp rises.
It's located on the left side , halfway down the radiator.
It's probably used on other Honda models, so information on which models and particularly a part number would be very helpful.
Thanks

Hello. Now that I have my Haynes Manual at hand, its called the cooling fan switch, which cuts in at 93 to 97 deg C. The cooling fan will then work, probably when stationary in traffic after a run.
The Thermostat , located in a housing below the fuel tank, opens at 80 to 84 deg C

Hi again. Its item 29 on the Radiator schematic. I'm not sure mine is U/S. Even if I can get hold of a defective switch, I can quickly swap them without losing too much coolant, and then test mine as detailed in the Haynes Manual. I'm fairly sure this switch is widely used by Honda throughout their range, so with a little more info, I can try ebay etc...

Hello . Yes a new switch is expensive.
For the time being I am planning to wire in a simple on/off switch and warning light , so I can turn the fan on myself when I need to.
Thanks for your advice.

Hi everyone, I am still searching.
I find it hard to believe that this switch is unique to the Revere. If anyone can point me in the direction of the part number and some guide which allows crosschecking of other models, I would appreciate it.

Not shore if this helps any one :-/but some of the parts of the revere I have got have been a doner to my vfr400 as they are almost the same e.g brake switch off the lever little black box/front lever and also flasher relay so might be worth just trying another rad switch of another old honda

Thanks titch. I have bought a 2nd hand switch on ebay but have not fitted it yet. My fan was not working, so I stripped it down and found that the brushes had stuck. After freeing them off, my attempts at reassembly were ......yes you've guessed....fatal. I could not get the brushes into a "stowed" position, in order to reassemble.....and the flexi copper lead to the brush broke. My advice to anyone reading this......use a HAMMER.....a carefully calculated blow , to free them !!
