Hi pops how you doing? Probably a silly question but i need some advice. Got a split in the seat (quite bad) Getting to grips with bodywork etc; but seat is embarrassingly poor. Looked on e-bay, gumtree, and can't find seat in good condition at reasonable price. My question are. 1) Is there anyone doing replacement covers. 2) If so are they worthwhile and easy to fit 3) How much do you guess a proper replacement would cost me if I could send it off to * seat repairers/recoverers?? (if such things exist.) Anyone else gone down this route and got a good solution, please reply. All help gratefully received Ride safe all. Jim

Hi Jim Had a seat recoverd professionally on the last bike I did only cost £40.The seat covers are naff and dont fit properly. Any firm in your area that does re upholstery on furniture should be able to do this all you need is a reasonable price
Cheers

I fitted a replacement seat cover to my CX500 years ago and had no problems. A mate at work has replaced his own seat cover on his NTV and it fits fine. All you need is a staple gun. I believe the seat cover from Baglux (ie bagster) is designed to fit over your existing cover. Baglux also remodel seats with new foam and covers etc and have a good reputation. But yeah, getting it done professionally is another option which you might prefer. A while ago a bought a sheepskin cover from Sheepy Hollow in Australia which was tailored to fit the NTV. It slips over your existing cover tightly without compressing the foam and is secured by a clever arrangement straps underneath, so you can remove it when you want. It's an absolutely perfect fit and really good workmanship. But it makes the bike look like a pimpmobile (although it is comfortable). www.sheepyhollow.com/default.htm

Hi guys thanks for the responses and ideas Gotta say I have read up some and the re-covers seem to be a bit hit and miss. A few stories of staples tearing into seat plastic and causing it to rip kinda put me off that idea, but its good to hear some of you have tried them sucessfully, so might just be tempted. Have to say pops that the idea of a normal upholsterers would never have occurred to me...Brilliant. Professional finish, used to working with the material, what a great idea. Cheers for the heads up on E-Bay pm'd you about them. proably give it a go, seats on mines poor, ripped and showing base through tears (Stuffing missing / worn away) A complete seat might be the best idea. I'll tell how I got on when the auctons over. ride safe and enjoy Jim

HI Jaz66
Glad you liked the site
I find the site quite good. I just placed my first order and I don't know if the things I requested was hard to find or they were out of stock but delivery time is estimated to one week.
Well the Uk map don't apply to me since I live in Stockholm,Sweden. So I'm glad that I found this forum-

Jim,
I've been off work recently so only just seen your message re sheepskin seat covers....
'sad old git suffering from a major dose of the old farmer giles' sounds just like me!
Actually if Sheepy Hollow only made coventional 'vinyl' covers of the same design then they'd be ideal because they do fit over the existing seat cover and the retaining straps are completely invisible once fitted. It'd make a great accessory for protecting your existing seat cover, and as I say the fit is perfect.
