Hi
Does anyone know a good place to buy spare parts (1990 NTV 650) in Australia?
All out ebay sites are UK. I don't mind UK shops just wondering if the was an Australian option?
Cheers
Tim

G'day Tas.
Getting parts for NTV's in Oz can be difficult, no doubt about it but here are a few things that I've learned. Honda dealers in Australia simply order the parts the same way as they do in the U.K. or Europe, that is from Honda. I've found it often cheaper and often with faster delivery times to order some things from Germany, Poland or the U.K. over the internet myself. Getting 2nd hand parts is even more difficult but not impossible, members of this very forum have helped me out with parts. There are parts for the bike with a dedicated part number that Honda have discontinued or so I thought. Because there are quite a few parts that are the same as those on a host of other Honda models and even other brands. A dedicated part number for the NTV might come up as 'discontinued' but there will probably be the same part under another part number as Honda seem to have a different number assigned to each different model even for the same part. What this meant to me was that when I went to my friendly wrecker with the part I wanted replaced I've usually been able to source it from another model. Recently I was replacing push/pull cables for the throttle and couldn't source the pull cable. Once again the 'friendly wrecker' came to the rescue and using the old one as a base, fashioned me a new one. Just yesterday I got a next to new, start switch unit (the right hand side of handle bar) for AU$40 from a wrecker when the prices for 2nd hand on e-bay was around AU$130. I've used Wemoto, several times, to order online with no dramas. Peter Stevens Motorcycles are a big Honda outfit here in Victoria and I've sourced genuine Honda parts through them and while they may be a little more expensive I know I can easily get back to them with any problems. I once found a link to a Chinese website that could supply just about any NTV part you wanted, non genuine parts that is but when I needed stuff I couldn't find the site again. Other than that TasNTV650, I've had plastic welding done on covers and fairing with broken plastic studs etc., replaced. Better than any glue or resin fix and cheaper than buying and shipping from somewhere else. Petrol tank divots taken out, foot pegs from other bikes and used a hell of a lot of elbow grease. I've been at this for nearly 3 years now with lot's of down time during that period but I've met and been helped by a range of characters along the way. I just connected some led indicators yesterday and they're blinking just fine and haven't ph@#ed up the wiring, spray painting next Thursday in the shed, awaiting sleeves for the muffler/exaust and then I'll put the compliance plate back on. I hadn't intended to be as detailed as I've ended up being with this bike (or this post) but it turned into a labour of love and hopefully of some help. Stay tuned for photo's of my 2014 Honda Revere NTV650, coming very soon.

Great post, Steve...I enjoyed reading it. It’s worth bearing in mind that a lot of parts from the Honda Deauville 650 (NT650) are also interchangeable with the NTV (engine’s are virtually identical). I’ve got clutch and throttle cables off the Deauville fitted to my bike. They are longer but I raised the bars on my bike anyway and fitted braided brake hose. In fact it’s possible to fit the higher Deauville bars to the NTV rather than use bar-risers (which I did). I’d imagine that levers and foot pegs etc., could be also swapped. The point is that Deauville parts should be more available because it’s a newer model. But I don’t know how popular the 650 Deauville is in Oz, so just in case you’ve not seen one, check out the links below which includes a microfiche: www.youtube.com/watch?v=ukq3iO_jhDEgrowell.proboards.com/thread/1061/deauville-resourcewww.deauvilleuk.org/doc/fiche.htm
