Just changed the plugs on my bike and thought
I’d post a picture of the plug spanner (socket)
that I use which actually belongs to the NT650
Deauville. Why use the Deauville plug spanner
rather than the standard NTV/Revere one? Because
the Deauville one is easier to use. It has a long
hexagonal arm that is actually hinged for
awkward angles. If you use it with a socket wrench
(plus extension arm fitted with a 10mm socket),
changing the plugs is relatively painless. See
illustration in the link below.
Unfortunately I can’t remember the Honda parts number,
and many plug panners that are advertised as genuine
Deauville plug spanners, are just a pattern part without
the hinged extension.
Here’s a guide on how to change the plugs using the
appropriate tools. Scroll down in the article below.
It's actually about adjusting the tappets but includes
details of spark plug removal:
www.elsham.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/deauville/tappets/As I say, when doing this job, a socket wrench fitted with
a 10mm socket and extension arm is also useful. Alternatively,
use a 10mm ring spanner.....
