OK Folks gota problem, pulled off the air filter case whilst setting the tappets and went to clean the "sub air filter",sits in the base of the air filter box,the Haynes manuel says it should be removed and cleaned, trouble is when i removed it,it just crumbled in my hand , Question - do i buy a new Honda one, can i replace it with a similair small gauze peice of filter, Can i just ignore it, I guess ignoring it is not a very good idea as it would not be there if not needed Any one any ideas please ? Cheers Hovis

Ayup Hovis, Mine did that too, the first time I touched it I could see that it had been made of foam, so I just cut a bit of foam I had lying about, sprayed it with a bit of oil to catch any dust and bunged it in. Low tech, but I can't really imagine that any different permeability properties of foam will make much difference- I just hoped that no crumbly bits of old foam had got into the engine. It's still going 20 odd thousand miles later so I suppose no harm done. Cheers, Bill
