My NTV-J 600 just failed MOT on rear suspension bush excessive free play. Having checked where play was, I removed rear shock unit (one with remote adjuster.) Wear was in upper shock bushing and a bit on mounting bolt. New shock obviously out of the question at £500 + !!!!!!! Took to local engineering workshop and quoted £60 + vat to sleeve shock bush.(Bush not listed as spare part by Honda) If I had access to machine shop, I could do it in less than an hour! Having measured everything, I went to my favourite bolt supplier (Namrick in Brighton- excellent for s/s bolts etc.!) Check it out! Have ordered 6 inch x 1/2 inch UNF bolt, nyloc nut and washers for less than a fiver. By my reckoning, it is 1/2 mm bigger than original. If it is too tight, then a 1/2 reamer or drill will clear the excess, possibly even a fine file or grinding paste! Bargain fix!!!!! Will post when fitted successfully.

Ditto. We need more low cost but quality solutions to age / wear problems.
Cheers.

Even easier way is to buy a can of coke, drink it, cut it up and use it to shim out the bearing.

Have to say I like both ideas, I like the bolt idea as it feels more permanent, but I have used the shim idea on other projects and can also see how that would work as well. Both could save the need to fork out for a shock which has to be good. We need a good ideas thread for our new board me thinks, or add these to a wiki as Buzzin suggested. More ideas the better for me please. Roger
