hi when i change seals, is it best to undo allen bolt at bottom and split apart, or just dig out old seal and put new one in there and bash it down, with dust seal over top, wonder if any one knew , many thanks..............

Well, I would suggest the way they discribe in the manuals. (I'm a bit confused as to what you are asking exactly...) When changing the seals you have to take the front legs apart anyway, so might as well replace the oil. Getting the new seals to fit might require some delicate ehm...convincing with a hammer, but only if it doesn't sit properly (mine required a few light taps) The dustseal required some more convincing....again careful, but they are a tight fit.... (ow and don't forget the clip in between the two seals...or you'll have to take the darn dust seal off again.... :/ )

I bet it was the right-hand fork that went?? .. I've recently done 9 seals ranging from bross 400, revere and ntv, you can do 1 seal as long as you remove the oil from the other one and use the same oil and levels (i used a large syringe with a lenght of pipe and drained the last bit out the bottom), special tools needed was a bent 90° 17mm bolt (cheap as chips allen key), 400mm of 50mm stainless pipe with a cut down old seal on one end (used for tapping in the new seal), as a genral rule most seals are fitted so you can see the part number. Dam i should open a ntv health center the price these mechanics are charging..... i often find most jobs can be done at home, i'm sick n tierd of wearing a skirt only to be charged more..

Hi all Have had a look around but didn't find anything so if this has already been posted, apologies here is a Youtube 'How to' Remove and fit oil seals Not fully ok with the different types of forks in videos in relation to NTV/revere, but it may give someone a better idea of what to do, and how to do it. uk.youtube.com/watch?v=W2G-b66F3esJaz

Nice video jazz Just a quick reminder for those that want to try for themselfs: The video is an up-side-down fork (methinks), the NTV uses normal ones....and from the looks of it, the NTV one is a lot simpler. Ow, and DON'T unscrew the top like in the video...it does spring out Found one in the list of links that youtube created that matches the NTV a bit more. We just don't have a cardridge: uk.youtube.com/watch?v=5A0p2OH6FmI(just hope it helps)

Nice one buzzin Knew someone would stop me causing too much damage by correcting me on this ;D Nice find, seems we are getting closer to the actual NTV Forks video. Possibly we could get the next person who attempts to do the forks themselves to video or photo the job? Probably could get most of the tricky jobs photo'd at least if people didn't mind snapping what they were doing? Winters coming up and I'll bet one or two are going to be doing some fettling this winter, In fact I know of One person who has got a spare engine they are working on at the moment, who could possibly be persuaded to snap a few shoots sans Heads/casings etc................ ;D I reckon with a bit of thought most jobs done on the bike could help someone else if they got photo'd (can't be any worse then the pics in the Haynes manuals ) Think people are put off just slapping up some photo's because they think WE expect the post to be 100% complete and perfect. But as it helps all on the forum, I think they should just click and post away, and let US, as a group organise and word the picture or voice over for video. We already have a few FACT Files, I am sure the more technically minded members could oversee the creation of some new fact Files and use the Videos Or pictures inside of it? jaz

People said brown shoes didn't really go with that outfit, but what else could I wear when the airline lost all of my luggage? I got some strange looks coming back through passport control looking like that.

Obviously judging by the outfits pulling power you flew with 'Virgin'.. ;D And the funny looks at Customs was because even a blind man can see that, you sir, are a hamster smuggler!! Surprised the RSPCA didn't prosecute you, There's NO way that poor hamster made it to this sceptered Isle, without SOME mental trauma, after being stuffed inside your mankini. for the flight home.. ;D ;D Jaz

Hi Hobbsie...welcome to the site. ;D I’ve heard that the NTV will accept the forks off a CBR 600 but to my knowledge no member of the forum has done this so far…. Not sure about the Revere however.... But the review of the NTV 650 below seems to confirm that it can be done…..(see link). www.goodmotorcycles.com/0hvt500.htm 'My mate who owns a breakers reckoned he could fit a CBR 600 front end he just happened to have handy for a couple of hundred quid. As he's a bit of a wideboy I checked the forks over to make sure they hadn't been straightened...... A useful cash bonus turned up when some punter came in demanding to buy the NTV front end so the actual cost of the transplant bore no relationship to the transformation of the handling and braking. The CBR forks are both well sprung and damped, totally adequate to the needs of the NTV, and the brake is a pair of huge discs with state of the art calipers. On the road, just touching the lever gently had the front wheel screaming and it took a week or so to re-educate my right hand.’And, I notice that a similar mod has been made to Steve Beatty’s Hawk/Bros….. www.hawkland.de/beatty/Hope this helps….. P.S. Just noticed this thread by Muxter and Ilegalalien: growell.proboards49.com/index.cgi?board=body&action=display&thread=776
