Hello all, two things in this thread, first a progress report on my almost finished bike, and then a problem thats got in my way and a plea for help. progress so far - new bars are on (had some nasty gold renthal ones on when i bought it), new grips on, screws for switchgear lost and found (messy garage). footpeg hangers painted and replaced, gear change and rear brake bits all painted and on (and working new footpegs from wemoto on, headlamp, indicators and new ignition barrel all fitted and nice, new taillight fitted (£6 from ebay woo!), allbody panels and tank sprayed, rubbed down, sprayed, rubbed down etc etc for ever - i think i just like the smell ofo cellulose...just waiting for decals to arrive from image works then i can lacquer them too.....nearly ready for road yay Problem i've got is this, the throttle sticks - has new cables and are all correctly adjusted and isn't the carb....first half of throttle is fine, open it and it snaps back like it should, but over half way open theres a little notchy feeling in the grip and it sticks - not badly, requires next to no pressure to get it back, but doesn't snap back of its own accord, feels like the sticky up bit (tech term) where the ends of the cables go on the twist grip is catching against the casing of the switch gear - any body ever come across anything similar? any ideas or suggestions gratefully recieved.... thanks randle

Remove the return cable, did it on my NTV because of similar issues and it solved the problem. ;D check twist grip assembly anyway as a matter of coarse, just in-case

Hi Odie, Do you mean you removed the return cable permanently if so did you need other mods. I've always wanted to fit an old Brit throttle as you can adjust them so that they don't shut when you take your hand off the bars but they all seem to be single cable jobs. Sheekbiker ( Mick )

Good to hear news of your progress - shame it's nearly complete with the weather turning nasty.
My thoughts on Sticky throttle: twist grip catching on end of bars (mentioned) or binding against a bar end weight. kinked or badly run cable - they are a complete sod to run effectively. Perhaps have a foreign body etc in twist grip but unlikely.
When I first got mine, it didn't have the closer cable and worked fine. When I rebuilt, I bought and fitted the closer (Cable B I think) and everything worked just as well (once I'd figured out the cable routing).
Checks: remove both cables from the carb end, move the throttle link on the carbs with your finger. Result = smooth, no obstructions? It's not the carbs. Twist the throttle, all smooth? It's not the twist grip or cables Attach the opening cable and try the throttle control - all smoooth still? Then it is most likely the closer cable and my guess is a poor routing.

sufficient freeplay in the cables? Check it with the bars locked over as well as straight, and ensure the twistgrip is loose on the bar at all times.
