Hi - I have a 1989 NT650 Revere with 103000 km on it. It runs well but I have noticed that when the engine is fully warmed up there is a little shudder from the clutch when slipping it moving off. Any suggestions? I expect its just a little wear and a set of plates will fix it, but I also wondered about oil types etc. Cheers, Phil

Hi Rockman,
The only oil that might cause clutch slip is fully synthetic. But I've used fully-synthetic 5w40 for all the time I've owned my bike..... The gearbox works better....
Most people though, use semi synthetic 10w40. I'd also check the clutch cable.....

I'de agree with everything Jake says, also I would check that the plain plates are flat, there are no grooves in the centre & basket (can be dressed out if not too bad) & change the clutch springs as a matter of course - the're only cheap.
When buying parts buy a new clutch centre nut - I know, I suffered by not doing so!
Another thing comes to mind, make sure all the bolts in the drive train are tight, also that the wheel & engine mounts are tight.
Paul.

I'll put a new set of plates in when I fit the sidecar, and a new nut, and check the rest. cheers, Phil

i have the same problem, i put all new cluctch friction plates, new springs,, new pressure plate, new anti shudder spring. new nut(all honda products) , the solid plates are still the originals and its still the same, the shudder seems to come from the back wheel/ bevel box area?? The bike has done 16000 miles, i will have to open it up again and try to find out the problem,
