Hi all I have had problems starting my 600 revere. Ignition on everything works but the starter button. Using the info from this site i checked the nuetral switch, side stand, clutch switch and clutch diode but still nothing. I hired an auto electrician for 1 hour to look at the bike, he agreed with me that the items you guys suggest to look at first were not faulty. his verdict was that i have no live going to the start switch. He determined the wire that should be live going to the switch is the black/white one. He said to solve the problem he would have to open up the loom and find a break in the black/white wire and repair. Firstly does this anyalysis sound likely? I have very little knowledge of bike wiring and am not in a position to pay bike shop fees at the minute. If his thought is correct, and in an attemt to prove his theory, he took a piece of wire, attached it to what he said was the live going to light switch, attached the other end of the wire to the black/white one at the switch and hey presto it worked. What are your thoughts on me taking the live wire going to the light switch, splitting of it and taking it to the black/white wire on the switch. I appreciate this might not be the text book way of solving my problem but do you think it would work safely without causing any major issues else where on the bike. Your thoughts would be appreciated

What are your thoughts on me taking the live wire going to the light switch, splitting of it and taking it to the black/white wire on the switch. Simon, I may be mistaken, because I haven't checked my own bike but.... Looking at the wiring diagram in the Haynes manual a black and white wire runs from the kill switch (or ‘engine stop switch’) to the ignition control unit.... See page 9.23 (or 9.24) below. wbieniec.kis.p.lodz.pl/moto/ntv/manual/9.pdfI can only see a black wire running from the starter switch. But a broken wire does sound viable..... If it was me I’d get it fixed professionally. I wouldn’t take the risk of bodging the job myself because I’m not an electrician. But at least you now know where the fault is..... Anyone else care to comment?

Good news!!!
Following your guys advice got the fuse out again and doulble checked it. The fuse was fine. Paying attention as i put it back in i notices the the 2 little holes where the fuse blades fit, one of them had nothing in. Removing the fuse box entirely the little connector had come away from the hole. Not only on the ignition but also the fan hence why it over heated last week!!
Extremely grateful for your advice!!
Thanks again - owe you a pint
