What antifreeze/coolant should i use after flush?
Been researching this area and always find conflicting views opinions as to what brand/blend to use. As a personal choice and with some research was thinking of using Prestone ready to use antifreeze/coolant 50/50 mixture as its mixed with demineralised water and is also silicate and phosphate free.
However, some say you should use concentrate only after a drain/flush whereas others say the 50/50 mixture is perfectly fine. Others comment you should only use the manufacturers brand.
Was wondering if someone here can share some reliable evidence from conducting their own coolant/ change flush. How did it go...what did you use....or suggest.
Comments/experiences welcome.

50/50 water/ Halford's Advanced Anti-freeze - I don't bother with fancy bottled water as the stuff out of the taps here is actually drinkable (unlike most places down south!) - I've had the same kettle for 10 years, no limescale! If you live in a hard water area you'd be better off with distilled/demineralised. I use the Advanced stuff because it's silicate-free, and I have fond memories of the mechanical water pump seal on the CX with it's hatred of silicates in the coolant ..... Coming up on 2 years since I changed it (probably change it again about Easter) and no problems in the cooling department - I even have a thermostat and fan that work as they're supposed to! HTH

.... I even have a thermostat and fan that work as they're supposed to! HTH I wish I did.... I'm thinking of installing a switch on the bars so that I can switch the fan on if I need to.... I'm gonna start using the Halfords coolant. I used to buy premixed 'Kool' from wemoto. But Halfords is only just down the road so there's no point in ordering coolant by mail.....
