Dear Everyone, I would be very interested to read about the m.p.g. that others are getting from their NTV650's and under what circumstances these are achieved. (i.e. solo or 2-up, local or long-distance, average speeds, with screen or without?). I have a '93 650 with less than 20,000 miles recorded and a fairly large Morgan windscreen fitted. This regularly delivers 61mpg on local journeys of around 10-15 miles. I'm very pleased with this. However, on a recent 250 mile trip from Scotland holding a consistent 85mph I was shocked to discover that this had dropped to 48mpg. Was I unreasonably expecting better than this? How does this figure compare with the experience of others?

Hi Dancer
You may find the thread going back to 2nd April this year of interest "FACT FILE".
Fuel consumptions are certainly more important these days.

Thank you grasshopper and Jake for your references. I've read through the links and it seems that I'm within the range of others' mpg while taking my 10-15 mile trips. Reading also suggests that my 48mpg @ 85mph over 250 miles was heavy. One owner said that he never gets below 60mpg! I'm reluctant to lose the advantages of my screen but I'm suspecting that was responsible for the poor fuel economy on that trip.

I've got a K&N air filter & Predator stainless exhaust. Usually, just knocking about it usually returns about 66mpg. On a run,the best I've had is 73mpg. It doesn't seem to vary much.Mine's a 1996,with 43k miles. I've owned from 12k miles. When it had the std honda paper filter, & exhaust. It would usually return about 56/58mpg. So the K&N & pipe were a good investment really. Steve.

Seems to me that driving 70+ mph makes fuel consumption go nuts on the NTV, mines a 100% original 92 with no wind screen or anything. Normally i average 57 mpg, best i ever did was a slow cruise doing 71 mpg.. Half the time we are 2-up, and it doesnt affect mpg noticeable, actually going solo often have negative effect due to more sporty driving.. Dan
