Those of you suffering with old corroded electrical connections might be interested in this mod which was described on a VW forum, I'm not sure which one. Apparently VW cars have regular issues with MAF (mass airflow units) throwing fairly major faults, like not starting. It seems that even minor corrosion on the terminals can cause enough resistance to create problems. The Cage Mod is simply to push dielectric silicone grease into all vulnerable electrical connectors. Be clear about this, this is not the stuff you might get at B&Q which sets. There was a marked improvement on my VW, I have done the same on my Vauxhall and am in the process of doing it on my 1988 NTV now. Of course had the manufacturers assembled the connections with silicone grease in the first place this corrosion would not be such an issue and our vehicles would probably be more reliable as well. Cheers Marty

Cheers Marty Welcome to the site, Marty..... Actually, we've noticed that Honda do seem to fill some of the block connectors with some nasty looking yellow/white grease....but it's not always effective at preventing corrosion.... Maybe the stuff you have found will do a better job.

Now you mention, it I came across the grease you describe in the two blocks under the side panel on the right hand side. I had assumed a previous owner had added it. That said, there are plenty of other corroded connections on my bike that have never had anything on them. Cheers Marty
