the rear brake on my ntv 650 feels very wooden. i have cleaned and degreased the disc and pads and changed the brake fluid with no dramatic results. Are there any recomended brake pads i can fit? at a loss what to do next....

I think it is partly down to the design of the caliper itself. Mine was missing the pad retaining spring when I got it and the rear brake was fine (but the pads rattled and wore a notch in the retaining pin). I fitted a new spring and pin which stopped the rattle, but gave me a wooden feel at the pedal. Makes me think you either have rattly or wooden brakes!

When I first bought my NTV, I found that the rear disc brake was less effective than the rear drum brake fitted to my old CX500..... I changed the brake pads (front and rear) to EBC HH sintered, and that helped provide a bit more grip. But I eventually fitted Goodmans’ braided hose which improved the overall feel particularly in the wet.

Re : Feeble R Brake. I have found a great improvement came from fitting a deauville foot pedal - It has a different lug which gives a greater pressure (moment) on the master cylinder piston. Some re-arrangement/adjustment of the linkage and adjuster bolt was needed to achieve the correct pedal height.
