I have had both, and I love then both, but in some ways the revere is not such a big leap forward?
the cx 500 is a hard act to beat!
Don,t get me wrong I love the revere but do miss some very good things about the old cx500.
I had a 1981 cx500B AND A US 1981CX500D, If you have had a CX you will miss the comfy large seat and riding position,
very simple acesss to engine maintainace, like valve adjustment, plugs and carbs, simple drum brake at the rear which lasted forever! with no fuss, so many simple things on the old CXs that made it a joy to own!
The revere dose have some nice things better than a old CX, like handling is better and is quicker and looks better, but side by side its not so clear cut?
I think HONDA could have done a bit more with the revere to make it a great bike, but some great things about the old CX
they should of used into the revere design, would I GO BACK TO A CX? thats a hard one.
I am lucky to have a low miles and looked after revere so I will be keeping this one, but when I had to replace a rocker cover gasket on the revere and have to move lots of stuff out of the way and its a big job,I wish it was CX as it was so simple to do on a CX!
The more I think about the two bikes the less unclear it gets?
If you have a very good CX 500 OR 650 hold onto it don,t be so quick to upgrade to a revere, as it is not the great leap forward over the CXs, but the revere is still a great bike but its not so clear cut over the old CXs.
Anybody else been thinking the same? lets hear!
