Put a box under the engine and remove one wheel at a time, ...
Also near the side stand the frame bends in a strange way that can support the entire bike weight on a car jack (one with a wide pan),

i did mine bl placeing a bottle jack under the swing arm. un titghtened the rear wheel nut then lifted it a few mm orr the ground to get the wheel off . haveingthe bottle jack so close to the side stand it isnt the most stable thing but it was the easyst way i found

I didn't have the centre stand on my last NTV when I took it for testing. The Tester was poetry in motion:
Bike on the side stand, he pushed it from rear right so that the rear wheel was in the air and popped an axle stand under the rear of the engine then let the bike back down so that it had three points of contact - front wheel, side stand and axle stand. It was stable for him to check the rear wheel bearings and swinging arm bushes - he gave it quite a rocking about too.
To do the front, similar with weight on back wheel.

Variation of McF's approach worked brilliantly - use a trolley jack in place of axle stand!
Thanks Everyone - new tyres now fitted! ;D
