If I read it correctly, I think Hoonose has had (in this order) a Deauville, Revere & now an NTV, so I don't think there's any confusion over the different models. Interesting comparisons; I didn't know that the Revere's riding position was any different to the NTV.
Did you notice any difference in power between 600 and 650cc? Sounds like you preferred the Revere gearbox / gearchange to the NTV - do you know if the gear ratios are the same? What makes you prefer the NTV to the Revere?
Back on topic, my NTV has a Macadam on the front (and a Bridgestone BT020 rear for some reason) from when I bought it in June. Seem OK in the wet, but that may be because I don't trust any tyre too much in the wet!

Wasn’t sure if he was referring to the Deauville 650 above, because it’s fitted with panniers as standard. Also given the choice between a “cheap revere on ebay” I’d sooner go for the NTV because of extra capacity, and the option of raising the tubular bars (which the Revere doesn’t have) to improve the ride position....
What I should have added, however, is that if you’re going to raise the bars, then you’ll need to re-route clutch and throttle cables, or buy the longer versions off a Deauville…..

Yeah will agree with the bar thingy, was looking at a way of trying to raise my bars but seems no can do on the old Revere,and yeah after a 500 mile 10 hour ride i can confirm,me legs and shoulders ached !!!!!!!!!!!!!,not to mention me rear end !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I put a pair of spacers on my 650 (cheapo alloy things off Ebay) and they're a great improvement. 30mm, IIRC, but that's enough to take some of the weight off the wrists and shoulders.
You could always do a top yoke swap, Hovis...

Agree with dpmiller.....
I've tried both 30mm and 50mm bar raisers.
50mm transfer even more weight off wrists and shoulders but transfers extra weight to rear end.
Also the 50mm raisers make the steering feel a little strange to begin with, until you get used to it... Not sure if the 50mm raisers are legal, but no one noticed during the MOT test....
Forgot to mention, that brake hoses may also need to be of right length. I didn't have this problem because I've got Goodridge brake hoses fitted which look longer than standard NTV's....

all good tips here eh, can't remember who said what but yes i agree...
revere risers - they are available, but it's a top yoke replacement kit (and i think you'll only get them on ebay Hovis)
tyre pressures - the divvy link (thanks for that Jake!) was interesting, even saying that to overinflate is always better than the opposite...good thinking.
600 or 650? - well, not much in it i reckon...the revere feels like a lighter bike so it doesn't feel any different to the ntv 650 (power wise).
To clarify, my recent bikes have been: cx500 - bandit - deauville - revere - ntv650
but as the deauville is an ntv 650 but with plastic bits all around it, my new ntv 650 has plastic bits that can go on or off it (givi panniers - much better than deauville stuck on's that can hardly hold anything, in my humble opinion...).
Still wondering about the tyres though...winters coming (or did it ever go away?) and i don't want to be scrubbing in tyres in the wet. I'm going to go with the metzlers i think, or perhaps bt45's again?

Hi all Got Avon roadriders a few weeks back week (5th aug) Finally scrubbed in (warwick and back...... ) all sunshine riding until a few days ago, then wet riding ..Very wet riding ........... So how did they do..? Very well...... ;D Leans in wet...No problem. White lines......A little give but confident . Tracking cracks..Just rides over broken roads...... All told I am very happy. Sunny days ..sticky Wet days ....grippy Wear.......time will tell. Ice and snow ...........No way am I gonna find out, unless I have to. (Ride out dry, snows while i am away, what can you do...... ) Each to there own, but Avon road riders?....Ok by me........... Enjoy riding & stay safe Jaz

Sounds like Tweaker's faith in Avon has been justified...... Hovis, Phoned up David Silver this morning for a new air filter and asked about yoke conversion for Revere, but no luck. Out of curiosity also checked M &P catalogue with same result. If you can’t find a yoke conversion on e-bay now’s your chance to make contact with the German forum. De site has an English link and you can always right click and translate (German to english OR english to german) It is NOT always exact........................ Wy not try english to German (You KNOW what YOU said ) and translate that German into English..............Interesting... ;D the bikers at NTV De are sound, they love the NTV, they ARE bikers. they LIKE to ride....... The only thing seperating us from them IS language....! and IF they can conquer language (Hi Entenpeter) then so can We ....... Log on to the site, try the ENGLISH forum (But try translating the german into English and if your cleverer than me .........Not too difficult.. you MIGHT pick up a little bit of German, and make more of the site than you expected to............. Hi everyone, I ride a NTV Revere from 91 with alloy handle bars and have no problems with it. So converting the yoke was never a topic for me. But surely I can ask in the german forum. What exactly are the questions you have? Btw: I was wondering about the differences you make between NTV and Revere!? In Germany the NTV always is a 650! The only difference between the early Revere models and the later NTVs are different exhaust pipes (later = longer: restrictions due to noise reduction laws), missing main stand (cost reductions with Honda) and different colours. We also have a very strict regulation for tyres. We cannot choose one that fits by dimensions. There has to be a paper called "Hersteller Freigabe" - meaning approval from the manufacturer for a special type of tyre. In fact the BT45 is the best tyre you can get for the NTV in Germany. Another thing is the profile: you have to have at least 1,6mm here and you must not mix front and rear types. So it sounds to me as if the British government is much more liberal with these things. Or am I wrong? But back to topic: come on, ask questions! I will post the in the german forum Rgds Peter P.S.: order a beer in Germany is easy - same spelling - Cheers!

Hovis… Bar raisers! Sorry to bang on about this. This thread is supposed to be about tyres, but…. Have you considered the “Raask” bar raisers as an alternative to a yoke conversion? The Raask bar raisers work by clamping to the top of the forks, where they pass through the yoke. You can then fit tubular bars, through the bar raisers themselves… Only drawback is, that the forks have to protrude through the yoke by a minimum of 25mm otherwise you can’t attach the bar raisers… I’m not totally familiar with the bar layout on the Revere so I’m not sure if the Raask alternative will work.
