Hi JJ it's a 12volt 3watt bulb they're all glass, with a flat push in fitting. The contacts are small pieces of wire on the outside of the glass. Take a look at this link, it's not a wonderful picture, but may help 216.37.204.203/Honda_OEM/HondaMC.asp?Type=13&A=54&B=29I'd get a couple, and make sure you test all of the bulbs. Neutral must be a tricky one to have fail on you. Replacing it is straightforward. Two allen Bolts hold the console on, you need to unscrew the speedo cable too. Then you have access underneath to the self tapping screws that hold the console bottom on. Take care undoing (and rescrewing !) these. The plastic is likely to be brittle, the screws rusty and it could all end in tears. Good luck, should only take circa 30 minutes

Just a thought, NTV's are known to wear out the neutral switch, so it may not be the bulb. The light is fine on mine, but I have had to replace a neutral switch with a worn plunger on another bike.

I'm afraid that same thought (neutral switch) was going through my mind too. I decided it was kinder not to say at present, as it's an oil change and complete sod to do.
Let's hope it's just the bulb JJ!

I'm sorry to hear that You can check that it is the switch, and not the wiring by removing the wire from the switch and earthing it.
You may need to remove the plastic "final drive cover" from the left hand side.
Just above and to the rear of the Water Pump is the neutral switch. when the gearbox is in neutral, the switch earths the wire, so either take the wire off and earth it, or use a piece of wire to earth it from the contact. If the Neutral light comes on, the switch is defective. If it does not, the wiring is likely to be the problem.
The other wire and electrical "device" near the water pump is the oil pressure switch. This is slightly to the rear of and lower than the water pump.
If you're planning to do an oil change, and you know it's the switch. It's worth ordering one to replace when the engine is drained. I checked the Riva site again and surprised at how cheap the switch seems ($14.75). My experience is that ordering from my main stealer works out in £ what Riva says in $. Make sure you get a new sealing washer with the switch.
With the neutral light out of action, does it confuse the relays for the starter? Or are you just starting with the clutch in every time?

Just to mention: if you only want to replace the switch you don't need to do an oil change. If you hold the bike slightly to the right, there will be no oil dripping off the hole. I bought the switch at my local Honda dealer and it came with a new sealing washer. Talking about the price: I paid about 17,- Euros for it. Here's a little help for the replacement: www.ntv-forum.de/html/body_leerlauf.htmlRgds Peter

Peter's suggestion and the link to the German NTV are handy. I once tried doing some work and leaning the bike over too but the 2 minute job turned into a few hours; that was a headache!
Whichever method you choose, good luck and here's hoping it's the 2 minute option.
Did you get your Clutch cable sorted?
