Hi there,
I'm from Australia and am looking at buying a 1990 NTV650 revere.
It looks to be in excellent condition and has around 70,000km's on the clock. It has been run on mineral oil its entire life.
The price is a little high but I don't mind spending a little more on something that will last, and more importantly, cheap running costs.
What are these bikes like for pillion transport? Can you get an aftermarket screen/fairing from them? Can anyone reccomend a sports exhaust brand for them? If I put on a new pipe, would I have the carbs tuned to suit?
Finally, how many K's can I expect from the engine with regular oil changes and moderate riding before it starts to drink oil?
I sold a 81 CB750 this year which had 106K on the clock and was drinking over 1L per 1K (2 stroke?).
Thanks,
Rob.

Hello mate, well they used to be a despatch riders favourite in London and you know the abuse those guys give their bikes, Theres no real weaknesses with them, solid engine also used in the Transalp, Just check all the usual things, take it for a test ride,if you like it buy it,it won't let you down, just remember your not buying it for the performance !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rob, Hello and Greetings to Oz. Got me a bit confused- in the UK the 650 motor didn't come until the '93 model year. There was only the 600 Revere before then.
The lads have about said it- these bikes can go round the clock (miles) easily as long as they are serviced. 70k is just about run-in. A couple of things though- I don't think many people try to tune the motor. It's not that sort of bike. Some people do travel with a pillion- my daughter says it's comfortable enough and the suspension copes, but there's not alot of spare power so performance is not too hot. Cheers, Bill

Very reliable, I have a '92 650 which is used every day for commuting in the Hull area of England, currently showing a mere 75000miles and is sweet. Frequent oil changes with good quality oil and they will go for ever if you accept their limitations. Don't bother tuning you wont get much more aout of it and it isn't worth it. For replacementexhaust try BSM Future, superb build quality and cost effective. Like I say mine is used every day and the exhaust is still capable of shining. Watch out for the cooling fan failing. Cant repair, must replace, but other of other Hondas fit, I replace mine with one of a VFR, just changed the frame it come with. Try any bike breaker whenyou need one, and you will.
